Parenting

I wanted to be a smart parent so I read just about every book on parenting I could my hands on. One day, I was at home reading the book The Obedient Child by Ken Wilson. I was on the chapter discussing how to correct your child when he is whining.
The book says first, you have to teach your child the meaning of whining. You must catch him whining and point out the behavior. Say something like: “Stop whining. Don’t use that tone of voice with me. That’s whining,”

I think a child’s whining is a definite learned behaviour and that it is important to also identify with our own whining as to not educate them.
It is as you have shared, important to catch them in the act so to speak as they too need to be taught how to identify with such habits
Thank you so much for sharing
